Retro Blogging
I confess: I do retro blog! People who are subscribed to my RSS feed—you rock, by the way, and I appreciate you—might have noticed the posts that date back weeks if not months. That must seem odd to people who set their creation dates when they write the post, but I have chosen a different route; I set my creation dates to when the thing I write about happened.
I treat this website as the front face of my personal notes that I take every day. Those notes are usually very detailed, almost recorded as a stream of consciousness, a journal entry, and allow me to go back in time and turn them into a more refined version for this very website. That way, my website much more resembles a digital garden, that I tend and curate over time, than a blog with its chronological list of posts.
I do not want you, the reader, to feel confused or deceived and I can assure you that this is not about insecurities or self-censorship; I sometimes do blog in the moment! But I retro blog much more often, because it is a modus operandi that suits my way of thinking and reflecting. And most importantly, it lets me shape my little corner on the internet the way I envision it: As a public collection of events, thoughts, and learnings that make me.
